“A few years ago, I went on an awakening journey throughout Norway. It was an immersive adventure that en-compassed visual delights, tactile glee, and culinary experiments which opened me to new perspectives. To my joy, I found many objects were constructed of natural materials, metal, glass, clay, and wood, not new, but rather made by hand and often with a charming patina. The patina of the country also cast its impression on the hues within the collection, with nuances of shade, light and depth of color. From the smallest details in the curved metal door, to the hand-cut stone pavers fitted together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, to the richly colored hand-woven rugs, to the Norwegian mid-century patterns in the shop displays, these snapshots became the foundation for the Fall 2021 collection.
In the 12 days I was there, I experienced emotions, thoughts, natural wonders, pictorial vignettes, and an awareness of my heritage. Here’s to embracing the things that make up who we are and that slow us down enough to enjoy the hand of the maker. ” – Mary Jo Miller
